Assignment
Mescla is a Danish design furniture brand founded by Brazilian-Danish designer Carla Botosso, that uses strong African visual influences and produced in Mozambique by a woman’s cooperative.
Mescla means "blend" in Portuguese, the concept of cultural blend was the inspiration for their logo design - curvy and organic. The logo has a weaving movement, reflecting both the mixed cultural influences of the products as well as the weaving techniques used in their designs. For this multi- cultural brand we created a logo filled with movement, curvy and organic, reflecting both the contrasts of the cultural influences in their products as well as the different weaving techniques used in the designs.
Mescla has a strong social purpose while at the same time creating high quality design products. Our goal with the branding was to communicate that “as a customer you are buying this unique design piece, while helping to empower these amazing African African artisan women”.
Mescla’s identity is all about movement, bright African colours, hand-made weaving techniques contrasted with clean Danish design aesthetics.
